Charles Schwab Building Renovation Featuring Vintage
Project Spotlight
This Charles Schwab building in Tucson, Arizona, is a striking example of the transformative power of innovative design and premium materials. Recently undergoing an exterior renovation, this 1975 structure has been dramatically reshaped to pair functionality with a captivating aesthetic. Central to this transformation is the use of Steelscape’s Vintage® coated metal.
The design team, Repp + McLain Design & Construction, realized their client’s modern vision through their thoughtful selection of the Vintage color. Selecting 24ga Vintage enhanced the building’s visual allure and bolstered its long-term durability. The semi-translucent color allows the metal’s subtle character to shine through, providing depth and a unique metallic sheen. Steelscape’s proprietary coating to achieve this color also equips the metal’s surface with graffiti-resistant qualities.
In a creative twist, the standing seam roof panels, manufactured by AEP Span, were ingeniously installed as siding panels. This unique application demonstrates the versatility of metal in architectural design. This unconventional application not only highlights the innovative thinking of the designers but also underscores the adaptability of metal materials. This revitalization pays tribute to the structure’s history while celebrating the enduring elegant beauty of contemporary architecture.
Vintage − A Dynamic Siding Color
Vintage is an innovative prepainted metal product that provides warmth and character. The combination of pigmentation and gloss gives Steelscape’s Vintage coated metal a dynamic and aged appearance, making it a top color choice for architects and designers. The proprietary coating ‘preages’ Steelscape’s TruZinc® metallic coated steel surface, which produces a beautiful and durable finish.
